I have been working (as in not art work) for half the year but then was able to return to my art work
I am a member of Carmarthen Artist Network (CAN) and the group has been invited by the National Botanical Garden of Wales to record the regeneration of the gardens. The huge project involves returning the gardens to their Regency splendour with the creation of lakes, waterfalls, planting etc.
As a group of artists we all have different skills, ceramics, painting, printing, sculpture etc; which leads to a varied record of the plans and works. We are having an exhibition next year at the Gardens to show how we are getting on recording.
I have decided to record the trees which are to be cut down to make way for the lakes. So far I have taken some rubbings of tree stumps and made a few trial moulds of bark on trees which are earmarked for cutting.
I want to try and make either plaster or paper mache sculptures and maybe do some printing. Who knows! Very exciting project though and a really interesting group of artists to work with.
