Newspaper, card and tape, lost in my imaginings, my hands created a model of little bird. Even as this small model he had life and character but his form was weak. So began Little Bird's journey into the world.
Birds are light and eat their own body weight several times over in a day. So it was with Little Bird! He needed constant "feeding" throughout the day, over weeks, layers and layers of paper, gradually growing bigger and fatter.
The cat was interested in the growing bird, sniffing and patting with her paw. Maybe she wants to make friends? Or did she want to play and tease, cats with prey. No time for that yet, Little bird had more growing to do. I could almost hear Little Bird: "I am hungry and I am alive I need to eat". Time for Little Bird's beak! No playing now cat! Little Bird is well armed.
Big Bird! Standing proud waiting for his new coat of colour and jewelled decoration. A proud bird, born from the honoured birds of India.
